World Anaesthesia Day was celebrated on 16th October. Dr Sumalatha Shetty, Assoc. Prof. KSEMA, Mangalore, conducted the quiz programme. Winners were given cash prizes of Rs. 500/- for first place and Rs. 300/- for second place. Ms Avanthika Kamath rendered invocation. Dr Padmanabha S welcomed the gathering Dr Sukumar Shetty, Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist of Mangalore was felicitated. Dr Suresh Kamath, General Surgeon & Chief Medical Officer, Nitte Hospital, Nitte, was the Chief Guest. Dr Madhusoodan Upadhya & Dr Ambareesha M briefed about the plans to hold ISA South Zone Conference 2008 and 1st National Convention on Resucitation. Dr Sripada G Mehandale, Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.

2nd ‘PG Case Discussion’ was held in Seminar Hall, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, hosted by the Department of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA, Deralakatte, Mangalore. Dr Deepak Kalliat, presented a case of swelling in the front of the neck & Dr Harish Karanth, a case of cleft lip coming for lip repair. 26 people attended the programme.

4th executive committee meeting was held on 14th November. It was resolved to hold the AGM and conduct elections for the posts of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer & Executive Committee members during AGM on 24th November at KSHEMA Seminar Hall. As per the rules of ISA, incumbent secretary was asked continue for two more years.

CME & Annual General body Meeting of ISA, Mangalore City Branch was held on 24th November at Seminar Hall, Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, Mangalore. Dr Avijith Roy, Asst Prof of Community Medicine, AJIMS, Mangalore, delivered a guest lecture on ‘Occupational Hazard: How to Protect Ourselves from Communicable Diseases?’. This was followed by AGM, presided over by Dr Padmanabha S, Pesident, ISA Mangalore City Branch. Following office bearers for the year 2008, were unanimously elected. Dr Sudhir Hegde, Prof & HOD of Anaesthesiology, FMMC, Mangalore for President, Dr Ranjan Rao, Prof & HOD of Anaesthesiology, AJIMS, Mangalore, for Vice President, Dr Sumalatha R Shetty, Assoc Prof of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA for Treasurer, Dr Manjunath Kamath, Asst Prof of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA as Executive Committee Member & all other Heads of Anaesthesiology Departments of Medical Colleges of Mangalore were Executive Committee Members. It was also resolved to rest the power of appointing member to the remaining posts of Executive Committee with the office bearers. It was also unanimously resolved to ask incumbent secretary, Dr Sripada G Mehandale, Assoc Prof of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA to continue for two more years. The newly elected office bearers were entrusted to carry out activities including financial transactions for the year 2008. Members unanimously welcomed the appointment of Dr Madhusudan Upadhya as Organizing Secretary and Dr Raveendra U S as the Organizing Chairman for the upcoming Annual South zone Conference of ISA, 2008. It was also unanimously resolved to ask them to form various committees as per their discretion. All members whole heartedly wished success to the 1st National Convention on Resuscitation and Annual National Conference of ISA, ISACON to be held in December a grand success.

1st National Convention on Resuscitation was held on 1st & 2nd of December, 2007, in Association with Manipal University. About 250 delegates pattended the programme. Dr P F Kotur, Dr Balakrishnan and other office bearers of ISA, HQ participated in the programme. Dr Ambareesha, Prof & HOD of Anaesthesiology, KMC, Mangalore was the organizing secretary

PG case discussion was organized on 15th of December in IMA Hall. Dr Mohan Das & Dr Mohammed Yahya from FMMC, Mangalore, presented a case of paediatric patient with burns contracture neck. Dr Raveendra US, Dr Madhusoodan Upadhya & Dr Anand H Kulkarni fecilitated the discussion. 37 postgraduate students made use of this programme.
